New York Women Deserve Equal Pay for International Women’s Day!

A Better Balance and PowHer New York authored a letter which is signed by over 150 groups, urging members of the New York State Legislature to co-sponsor and support a bill (A.2040C/S.6737A) that would prevent employers from inquiring about or relying upon a job applicant’s salary history, an important measure to close the pay gap. This legislation builds on the hard work we collectively put into passing paid family leave and previous equal pay laws.

In honor of International Women’s Day, we ask for you to join us in advocating for an end to this practice by sharing this letter publicly on social media today, Thursday, March 8 and using both #SalaryHistory and #IWD2018.

Help us get this bill passed by sending a few of the samples below or in this doc:

  • Without the #SalaryHistory Bill a past low salary can follow workers from job to job for decades. #EqualPay @ABetterBalance @PowHerNY http://bit.ly/2018SalaryHistoryLetter
