NEWS HIGHLIGHTS

1. Paid Maternity Leave Is Good for Business
Wall Street Journal- Having experienced how valuable paid maternity leave is to me, my family and my career, I never thought of it as a privilege. But the sad truth is that paid maternity leave is rare in America, and the U.S. lags behind the rest of the world in providing for the needs of pregnant women and new mothers.

2. The gender earnings gap by state
Washington Post- Nationally, women earned 82.1 percent of what men earned, according to BLS. Women earn less than 75 cents on the dollar in another four states: Louisiana, Alaska, Utah and West Virginia.

3. To Promote Women’s Leadership, Don’t Forget the Benefits Gap
Huffington Post- But, what is much less-often discussed is the gulf between wealthy and poor working women’s experiences at work. Leadership means different things in different industries and income levels, but there are certain workplace policies that help women keep working, balance their work and family needs, and rise through the ranks.

4. Stop denying the gender pay gap exists. Even Jennifer Lawrence was shortchanged.
Washington Post- Sony’s hacked e-mails have revealed a troubling truth — that even the wealthiest and most powerful women among us are burdened by the ever-present gender pay gap.
