Black Women Equal Pay Day: August 7th

This year Black Women’s Equal Pay Day is August 7th to reflect that nationally black women make 63 cents compared to a dollar earned by the average white male. In New York, the number is 66 cents which is especially egregious because our overall gap is 89 cents, and NY has the second largest population of full-time working Black women, over 500,000. We must close this gap.

Join us by:

  • Signing on as a sponsor for the  #BlackWomensEqualPay PowHer Hour to be a leading organization for the network and submit tweets of your own to be posted in our toolkit. Email abby@powherny.org if you would like to sign up.
  • Submitting a blog post that tells your story about why there is still such a large wage gap for Black women; what the government, business and/or individuals can do; and/or tell an unequal pay story. All blogs will be posted on powherny.org and promoted during the national twitter storm hour.
